2 – 5 years
Open 8AM – 6PM
50 weeks per year
Kiddies Corner Day Care operates in a large converted house, with one large main room divided into areas with resources accessible to all children, and a quieter room for stories and role play. All children have access to a secure outdoor play area each day. We have a fantastic safe surface area with a large sheltered area, plus an area for exploring and being creative – children can now enjoy the outside environment all year round. The setting is open five days a week from 8am to 6pm during 50 weeks a year, closing on Bank Holidays and for two weeks during the Christmas holidays.
Staffing and Ratios
Both of our Owners Nikki & Nicola are educated to NVQ level 5 and both
work within the nurseries. The majority of our staff are qualified to NVQ level
3 or above. We have designated representatives to deal with special educational needs,
Health & Safety and Safeguarding – who are trained accordingly.
Staffing ratios are closely monitored within our setting and Justine our
manager is available to be called on if required, this ensures the best level
of care for your child. Legislative requirements for levels of care are:
- 1 member of staff for every four 2-3 year olds.
- 1 member of staff for every eight 3-5 year olds.
Key Person Approach
Each child will be assigned a key person before they start. The key person will be the special adult for that child and family, building a close bond and working with the child and their family to develop and nurture their individual needs – both at home and in the setting.
We are following the development matters curriculum guidance, which is based on four main principles:
- Unique child
- Positive relationships
- Enabling environments with teaching and support from adults
- Importance of learning and development
Development matters sets out the pathways of children’s development in broad ages and stages. However the actual learning of young children is not so neat and orderly. The characteristics of effective teaching and learning weave through them all. That’s because children in early years are becoming more powerful learners and thinkers. These characteristics develop as they learn to do new things, acquire new skills, develop socially and emotionally, and become better communicators. “Development Matters Sept 2020”
Each child’s development will be recorded in a ‘Learning Journey’ which you will be able to view at any time. This provides a lovely record of their time at nursery.
